GigaDevice Rolls Out Two Specialized MCUs Tailored for Humanoid Robots

On August 5th, GigaDevice made a significant announcement by introducing two specialized microcontroller units (MCUs) designed specifically for robotic applications. The GD32F50MxxG series is powered by a high-performance 252MHz Arm Cortex-M33 core, and integrates a proprietary three-phase gate driver along with four rail-to-rail operational amplifiers. This integration enables the functionality typically achieved through multi-chip discrete solutions to be consolidated onto a single chip, making it an ideal choice for 24~48V low-voltage torque motor FOC (Field-Oriented Control) vector control. The series offers two compact packaging options: an 8mm×8mm QFN80 and a 7mm×7mm BGA100, with mass production slated to commence in December.

Meanwhile, the GD32H77R series boasts a powerful 600MHz Arm Cortex-M7 core, and integrates an EtherCAT slave controller and dual 100Mbps Ethernet PHYs (Physical Layer Transceivers). It supports a wide range of mainstream encoder protocols, including EnDat and BiSS-C, and is equipped with 640KB of tightly coupled memory along with a hierarchical storage system. Sample applications for this series are now available for evaluation.
