Propelled by the burgeoning demand for artificial intelligence, the average monthly prices of traditional DRAM and NAND flash memory products in South Korea soared to unprecedented levels in July. Specifically, the average contract price of benchmark DRAM products for PCs experienced a 14.3% month-on-month increase, reaching $24—the highest point since the inception of statistical tracking in June 2016. Meanwhile, the average price of benchmark NAND flash memory surpassed the $30 mark, with single-layer NAND products witnessing an extraordinary 35% month-on-month surge. This price hike can be attributed to memory suppliers' strategic shift in prioritizing production capacity allocation towards high-layer 3D NAND and cutting-edge manufacturing processes, in a bid to meet the escalating AI-related demand.
