Affected by the rising global memory costs and tight supply, chip giant Qualcomm announced a comprehensive price increase for its chip products starting from September 1, 2026, with a double-digit percentage rise. This price adjustment covers the entire product line, including smartphones, PCs, tablets, IoT smart hardware, and automotive smart driving chips. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon confirmed that the price hikes aim to address the soaring memory prices and increased manufacturing input costs. Financial reports show that Qualcomm's revenue from mobile chips in the third fiscal quarter dropped by 20% year-on-year, with reduced revenue from Android phones contributing to a loss of over $1.50 in earnings per share. Despite facing accelerating pressure from the loss of Apple orders, Qualcomm is accelerating its transition toward high-margin sectors such as automotive chips and AI data centers. Automotive business revenue surged by 61% year-on-year, and the company raised its annualized revenue target for the automotive business in fiscal 2026 to $7 billion.
