Fueled by the bustling peak season for semiconductor exports, South Korea's per capita GDP is anticipated to experience substantial growth this year. Data unveiled on the 19th by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Bank of Korea, and the National Data Agency reveals that South Korea's per capita GDP is projected to climb to $39,164 this year. This represents an impressive increase of $2,750, or 7.6% year-on-year, marking the highest growth rate in nearly five years, second only to the 11.5% growth rate recorded in 2021. Should the average annual exchange rate between the South Korean won and the US dollar dip below 1,456.1 won, South Korea's per capita GDP is expected to exceed the $40,000 milestone.
