Samsung Electronics America has announced plans to reduce its workforce by 739 positions in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, where it currently employs around 1,200 people. This move specifically impacts the consumer electronics division of the subsidiary, while the semiconductor business will remain untouched. By the end of this year, Samsung intends to shift its U.S. headquarters from New Jersey to Texas. The decision to adjust staffing levels stems from the inability of some employees to relocate, as well as efforts to streamline operations. However, Samsung will extend transfer opportunities to the new headquarters for the majority of affected employees. The company clarified that labeling this adjustment as a 'mass layoff' would be misleading and chose not to disclose the precise number of positions affected.
