As reported by Nikkei Chinese, chip foundry behemoths are currently placing a premium on the manufacturing of high-end AI chips. This strategic shift has resulted in a more constrained supply of mature chips, thereby opening up avenues for growth and development for Chinese wafer factories. Data released by TrendForce reveals that, in the first quarter of 2026, three wafer factories from mainland China secured positions within the top ten in terms of global wafer factory revenue rankings. Specifically, SMIC claimed the third spot, Hua Hong Group ranked sixth, and Nexchip secured the eighth position.
