Recently, the South Korean government unveiled an ambitious plan to expand its semiconductor industry. This involves the construction of four chip-manufacturing plants in the country's southwest region, with a staggering total investment of approximately 800 trillion Korean won (equivalent to around RMB 3.5 trillion). The onus of constructing these plants lies with Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.

South Korea is set on accelerating the approval and construction procedures to swiftly augment its memory chip production capacity. The central region will concentrate on advancing packaging technologies, whereas the southeastern region will hone in on semiconductor materials, components, equipment, and next-generation power chips.

Moreover, South Korea has earmarked an investment of 30 trillion Korean won over the next 15 years for the development of next-generation memory devices, showcasing its unwavering commitment to staying at the forefront of the semiconductor industry.
