Samsung has announced an investment of 2,655 trillion won in South Korea to foster cutting-edge future industries. Among this, 2,030 trillion won will be allocated to the semiconductor industry cluster in the capital region, including the Pyeongtaek campus and the Yongin National Industrial Complex, with a focus on developing AI semiconductors, robots, batteries, and IT component materials. The remaining 625 trillion won will be distributed to regional areas, specifically 425 trillion won to the Honam region, 140 trillion won to the Chungcheong region, and 60 trillion won to the Yeongnam region. Samsung Electronics has selected Gwangju as an alternative site for its next-generation semiconductor production base, planning to invest 400 trillion won to build a new semiconductor wafer manufacturing plant, along with establishing a smart home innovation factory and production lines for heat pumps and air conditioners. Samsung SDS will construct an autonomous and controllable artificial intelligence data center in Haenam County, Jeollanam-do. Samsung C&T plans to create a photovoltaic power plant, hydrogen production facilities, and a green hydrogen demonstration complex park in the Honam region. Samsung Electronics will also build a high-end logistics center in Buan County, Jeollabuk-do. In the Chungcheong region, Samsung Electronics will construct new HBM wafer factories in Cheonan and Onyang, Samsung Display will establish a display panel production base in Asan, Samsung SDI will build a battery assembly plant in Cheonan, and Samsung Electro-Mechanics will set up an AI server package substrate production line in Sejong City. In the Yeongnam region, Samsung Electronics will build a humanoid robot mass production line and a smartphone assembly factory in Gumi, Samsung SDS will construct a supporting artificial intelligence data center, Samsung Electro-Mechanics will expand related production facilities in Busan, Samsung SDI will increase investment in its Ulsan battery production line, and Samsung Heavy Industries will create a core base for high-value-added ship manufacturing in Geoje City.
