On June 25 (local time), the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) gave the green light to Musk's acquisition of Mesh Optical Technologies Corporation. Mesh Optical Technologies was co-established by three former SpaceX engineers—Travis Brashears, Cameron Ramos, and Selina Groven-Harbally. These engineers previously played a pivotal role in leading the design of the laser inter-satellite link system for SpaceX's Starlink satellites. This year in February, the company stepped out of stealth mode and revealed that it had successfully completed a Series A funding round exceeding $50 million, with Thrive Capital taking the lead. Mesh's flagship product, the Alpha C1 optical transceiver, boasts a remarkable transmission rate of up to 1.6Tbps. Leveraging flip-chip bonding technology, it substitutes traditional copper cables with optical signals for data transmission between servers and GPUs, significantly cutting down on latency and energy consumption.
