On June 22, reports emerged that multiple new pile drivers had recently arrived at the construction site of Samsung Electronics' Pyeongtaek P5 Fab 2. This addition signals that substantial construction work is poised to begin, with the groundbreaking ceremony anticipated to take place next month.

Fueled by the booming investment in AI infrastructure, there has been a notable surge in orders for memory chips. This surge has prompted Samsung to expedite its capital investment plan by approximately six months. P5 Fab 2 represents the sixth factory slated for development within Samsung's Pyeongtaek campus and will also serve as the final semiconductor production line. Built on 300mm wafers, the facility is projected to achieve a monthly production capacity ranging from 200,000 to 300,000 units, with the aim of commencing production in 2029.
