According to CCTV Business, the price of lithium iron phosphate, a pivotal raw material for new energy and energy storage batteries, has experienced a sustained upward trend this year. In Mabian Yi Autonomous County, Sichuan Province, a package of lithium iron phosphate weighing approximately 400 kg now commands a price exceeding 25,000 yuan, marking a twofold increase from around 10,000 yuan recorded a year ago. Despite this price surge, demand remains robust, with leading companies already having their orders booked through to the end of 2026 or even extending into 2027. The current price escalation is propelled by a combination of demand-side and cost-side factors. Strong export demand in the new energy vehicle and energy storage sectors, coupled with the rising prices of upstream raw materials such as lithium carbonate and iron phosphate, is further driving up the production costs of lithium iron phosphate.
