Between April and June, the wholesale transaction prices for mechanical hard drives (HDDs) experienced a 10% uptick compared to the previous quarter. This surge is primarily attributed to robust demand in the Chinese PC market and a resurgence in HDD popularity due to skyrocketing SSD prices. Data indicates that the average price for a 3.5-inch 1TB HDD, commonly used in desktop computers and surveillance systems, now stands at approximately $58.9. Meanwhile, the 2.5-inch 1TB variant, favored in laptops, is priced around $55.6. Both models have seen a consistent 10% quarterly price increase, marking five consecutive quarters of growth. Prior to this, quarterly price hikes ranged from a modest 1% to 4%.
