On June 18, the three principal U.S. stock indices—the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the Nasdaq Composite Index, and the S&P 500 Index—all concluded the trading day with gains. Specifically, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.14%, the Nasdaq Composite Index surged by 1.91%, and the S&P 500 Index climbed by 1.08%. Chip stocks, in particular, exhibited robust performance, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index soaring by 6.42%. Notable gainers in this sector included Intel, which jumped over 10%, Micron Technology, with an increase exceeding 8%, TSMC and Qualcomm, both gaining more than 6%, NXP Semiconductors, rising over 5%, Applied Materials and AMD, which increased by more than 4%, ASML, with a rise over 3%, and Nvidia, climbing by 2.95%. The majority of large-cap tech stocks also experienced upward movement, with Arm surging more than 4%, Nvidia and Amazon gaining over 2%, Google, Meta, and Tesla rising more than 1%, and Apple, Microsoft, and Netflix seeing slight upticks. In contrast, SpaceX faced a decline of more than 3%. The performance of popular Chinese ADRs was mixed; Li Auto fell more than 2%, XPeng Group, Weibo, and JD.com dropped over 1%, and Alibaba experienced a slight decline, whereas Baidu, Tencent Music, NetEase, and Bilibili witnessed slight increases.
