Huawei's unveiling of Tao's Law has drawn significant attention, eliciting responses from TSMC executives and NVIDIA's CEO, Jensen Huang. On May 28, Sean Zhang, TSMC's Senior Vice President of Global Business, addressed an industry conference, noting that the concept behind Huawei's Tao's Law has been circulating within the industry for a considerable period. This concept predominantly hinges on advanced technologies like 3D stacking, which enable tighter integration of components. Zhang underscored that, amidst the soaring electricity demands propelled by artificial intelligence, energy efficiency has emerged as a pivotal consideration in the evolution of future chip technology, rather than a mere focus on raw computational prowess. TSMC anticipates that, transitioning from the current 2nm process to the A14 process slated for introduction in 2028, chips will achieve a 30% reduction in power consumption, coupled with a more than 20% enhancement in computational efficiency.
