Midday Break Sees Collective Decline in A-Share’s Three Major Indices, Semiconductor Sector Bears the Brunt

During the midday break, all three key indices of A-shares experienced a downturn. Specifically, the Shanghai Composite Index fell by 0.37%, the Shenzhen Component Index decreased by 1%, and the ChiNext Index tumbled by 1.14%. Leading the losses was the semiconductor sector, with Empyrean Technology witnessing a drop exceeding 10%, while both SMIC and Maxscend Technologies saw declines of over 6%. The aerospace and defense sector also faced a downturn, with Aerospace Huanyu plummeting more than 9% and Grand China Air dropping over 8%.
On the flip side, consumer stocks rallied collectively, with liquor and duty-free concepts at the forefront of the gains. China Tourism Group Duty Free Corporation, Dongbai Group, and Jiuguijiu all reached their daily limits, while Kweichow Moutai surged more than 4%. In terms of individual stocks, the market saw more declines than gains, with nearly 3,500 stocks experiencing a drop across the board.
