On May 29th, news emerged that the State Administration for Market Regulation has recently given its nod and officially released the recommended national standard, titled General Technical Requirements for Vascular Chips. This standard is set to come into effect on May 1st, 2027, heralding a pivotal advancement in the development of China's organ-on-a-chip standardization framework.

The General Technical Requirements for Vascular Chips primarily address three key areas:

Firstly, it delineates the terminology and definitions associated with vascular chips, establishing a consistent and unified linguistic foundation for the industry.

Secondly, it standardizes various aspects of the chips, including their appearance, cell sources, component performance, and biological functionality. It also sets forth crucial evaluation criteria, such as biocompatibility and tissue morphology, to ensure quality and reliability.

Lastly, the standard outlines specific testing methodologies for assessing indicators like light transmittance and sealability, providing detailed operational guidance for quality evaluation processes.

This newly established standard works in tandem with the previously issued General Technical Requirements for Skin Chips, collectively propelling the construction of China's comprehensive multi-organ chip standard system forward.
