Recently, Hon Hai's manufacturing plant in Wisconsin, U.S., encountered a significant IT system disruption, which temporarily impacted certain operations. According to the cybersecurity platform DysruptionHub, the ransomware group known as Nitrogen Ransomware has asserted that it exfiltrated up to 8 terabytes of data, encompassing over 11 million internal documents from Hon Hai. In reaction to these reports, Hon Hai confirmed on May 12 that several of its North American facilities had indeed fallen victim to a cyberattack. Nevertheless, the company's information security team swiftly initiated emergency response protocols and implemented a range of protective measures to safeguard the continuity of production and delivery processes. At present, production activities at the affected plants have been fully restored to normal operations.
