A Weibo blogger revealed that the Trump administration had pressured Tesla to transfer its foundry orders for the next-generation AI6.5 chip from TSMC to Intel. Previously, in April this year, Musk stated that the AI6 chip would be produced by Samsung's 2nm facility in Texas, while the AI6.5 chip was originally planned to be outsourced to TSMC's Arizona factory. The AI6 is expected to tape out in December 2026, with the AI6.5 following a few months later. Musk claimed that both chips would heavily utilize SRAM and feature LPDDR6 memory, with performance expected to double compared to the AI5 chip.
