Chip design company Arm announced that its data center business is about to become its largest revenue source. In its early years, Arm rose to prominence in the mobile device sector with its low-power processor architecture and dominated the smartphone chip market. In recent years, Arm has continued to roll out high-performance designs, attracting data center giants such as Amazon and Microsoft to adopt its architecture for developing their own processors. Arm expects that within the next 2 to 3 years, the scale of its data center business will rival or even surpass that of its smartphone business. Currently, this business segment accounts for over 15% of its total revenue and is approaching 20%.
