Based on a public announcement posted on the Grimes County website, this plant will serve as a 'next-generation, vertically integrated semiconductor manufacturing and advanced computing production hub.' Should all subsequent project phases be realized, the cumulative capital outlay is projected to soar to $119 billion.

Musk first unveiled the 'Terafab' concept back in March, with the ambition to manufacture chips tailored for his robotics, space exploration, and artificial intelligence endeavors. He underscored the significance of this joint venture between SpaceX and Tesla, highlighting that the semiconductor sector is currently trailing behind and incapable of satisfying the chip requirements for his projects, as well as the broader tech landscape.
