On April 29, reports confirmed that on April 26, 2026, the China Automotive Chip Industry Innovation Strategy Alliance officially established its RISC-V Automotive-Grade Chip Special Committee at the China Chip exhibition zone during the Beijing Auto Show. This newly formed committee unites key stakeholders across the automotive and electronics supply chain, encompassing automotive manufacturers, automotive electronics firms, chip designers, IP providers, software toolchain developers, and companies specializing in manufacturing, testing, and certification. Its core mission is to drive the widespread adoption of the RISC-V architecture within China’s intelligent automotive sector while fostering the development of a self-reliant, open, and collaborative ecosystem for automotive-grade chip technology and industry standards.

The groundwork for this initiative was laid in August 2025, when the alliance formed the RISC-V Automotive-Grade Chip Working Group. This precursor body conducted foundational research and published key reports, creating a strategic framework that enabled the Special Committee’s establishment. Moving forward, the committee will focus on building cross-industry consensus around RISC-V’s technical roadmap, competitive advantages, and real-world automotive applications. This collaborative effort aims to accelerate the integration of high-performance RISC-V chips into next-generation vehicles, strengthening China’s position in global automotive technology innovation.
