The Commercial Times, a well-known Taiwanese media source, has revealed that MediaTek has scaled back its wafer starts for the 4nm process. Another Taiwanese media outlet, Digitimes, further reports that Qualcomm has also implemented production cuts. Collectively, the two tech giants have reduced their output of 4nm smartphone chips by 15 to 20 million units, a figure that translates to 20,000 to 30,000 wafers. This move signals a notable downturn in the smartphone market.
