NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang responded to the controversy surrounding DLSS 5 at GTC 2026 in an interview on the Lex Fridman podcast, adopting a noticeably softer tone compared to his previous stance. Earlier, he had claimed that gamers' criticisms of DLSS 5 were entirely misguided, sparking strong backlash, with many gamers labeling DLSS 5 as 'AI garbage.' This time, Huang expressed understanding of gamers' anger, stating that he doesn't like AI garbage either, and emphasized that DLSS 5 is not intended to be that way. He explained that DLSS 5 is a content-controlled generative AI that remains faithful to the geometry set by artists, enhancing every frame without altering anything. He also outlined future possibilities for DLSS 5, such as allowing players to control visual styles through prompts. DLSS 5 is expected to be officially released later in 2026.
