Samsung SDI has revealed that its North American affiliate has inked a substantial energy storage system (ESS) battery supply agreement, valued at 1.5 trillion won (roughly equivalent to $1 billion), with a prominent U.S. energy firm. The supply period is slated to span from 2026 to 2029. These batteries are set to be manufactured at the Star Plus Energy facility located in Indiana, USA—a collaborative venture between Samsung SDI and Stellantis. Initially, the plant will focus on producing nickel-cobalt-aluminum (NCA) batteries, with subsequent plans to introduce lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries into the production line.
