On March 12, reports surfaced indicating that the global semiconductor industry is on the brink of a fresh wave of price hikes. Three semiconductor behemoths—Texas Instruments (TI), NXP Semiconductors (NXP), and Infineon Technologies (Infineon)—have recently informed their customers of impending price increases for select products, effective April 1. Notably, certain offerings from Texas Instruments are set to experience price surges of up to 85%, whereas Infineon's mainstream products are anticipated to see a more modest increase, ranging from 5% to 15%. NXP, meanwhile, has refrained from specifying the magnitude of its price hikes but has indicated that it will proactively update its distribution catalog prices. The impetus behind this round of price escalations stems from three primary factors: escalating raw material costs, a burgeoning demand for AI computing power, and structural constraints within the industry's production capacity.
