On February 28, reports from South Korean media revealed that the average prices of DRAM and NAND flash memory experienced a continued upward trend in February of this year, with month-on-month increases surpassing 12%. This marks the inaugural instance where the average prices of these two primary memory chip types have simultaneously registered double-digit monthly growth. Data from market research entities indicated that the average price of general-purpose DRAM products for PCs (DDR4 8Gb 1G×8) climbed to $13 in February, reflecting a 13% month-on-month rise. Similarly, the average price of NAND flash memory products for memory cards (128Gb 16G×8 MLC) escalated to $12.67, marking a 12.7% increase.

Notably, the contract prices of DRAM for PCs witnessed a substantial hike, with DDR4 8GB and DDR5 16GB products surging by 120% and 118%, respectively, from the preceding quarter, reaching $85 and $140. The scarcity of supply for specific product types has further intensified market tensions. SLC and MLC NAND flash memory products, which are extensively utilized in sectors such as industrial equipment, are currently facing a shortage. Consequently, MLC product prices have soared, with the 128Gb variant experiencing a 33.9% month-on-month surge, while the 32Gb and 64Gb models have increased by 29.4% and 21.2%, respectively.
