On February 11th, Zhao Haijun, the co-CEO of SMIC, announced during the earnings call that by 2025, the semiconductor industry chain—spanning design, production, and sales—will experience an accelerated shift towards localization, transitioning from overseas to domestic operations. This restructuring is expected to have a sustained impact throughout the year. Notably, analog circuits are projected to make the swiftest transition, followed by display drivers, cameras, memory, MCUs (Microcontroller Units), mixed-signal devices, logic circuits, and other components. Chinese domestic chip design companies are seizing this opportunity to expand their market share within the supply chain. Meanwhile, SMIC is ramping up verification processes and expanding its production scale to cater to the diverse market demands of its customers.
