With the soaring demand for AI semiconductors, companies are embarking on large-scale business restructuring endeavors. Following in Micron's footsteps, SK Hynix is set to discontinue the production of consumer-grade DRAM and NAND Flash products. Instead, it will concentrate its resources on the B2B (Business-to-Business) and AI server markets. Earlier, Micron had unveiled its plan to stop producing consumer DRAM in February 2026. The three leading manufacturers, namely Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron, have completely ceased accepting new orders for DDR4. Moreover, a staggering 80% of their capital expenditures are being channeled into high-margin products like HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) and DDR5.
