Analysts like Ju Min-woo from NH Investment & Securities have highlighted that Samsung SDI's losses in the fourth fiscal quarter of 2025 surpassed expectations. This was primarily attributed to the sluggish demand for electric vehicles in the U.S. market. Moreover, it's anticipated that the company's unprofitable state might linger until the end of 2026.

Given its dwindling market share in the European electric vehicle battery sector, this South Korean battery maker is likely to face more severe challenges compared to its rivals. NH Investment & Securities projects that Samsung SDI's operating loss for the fourth fiscal quarter will hit KRW 338.7 billion, exceeding the market's average forecast of KRW 269 billion. It also expects the company to incur an annual loss of KRW 1.765 trillion in 2025. Furthermore, the institution forecasts that Samsung SDI's operating loss in 2026 could shrink to KRW 967 billion.
