As per a Reuters report dated January 1, TSMC announced on that very day that it had secured an annual license from the U.S. government. This license grants TSMC the permission to import American chip - manufacturing equipment to its Nanjing factory situated in mainland China, and this authorization is valid through 2026. In its official statement, TSMC emphasized that this license is a crucial factor in guaranteeing the seamless operation of the wafer fabrication facility and the timely delivery of products. It's worth noting that previously, South Korean tech giants Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix had also been granted similar annual licenses.
