As per a report from South Korean media dated December 25, 2025, Samsung Electronics is making significant strides towards achieving GPU self-sufficiency. The tech giant has outlined plans to integrate its proprietary graphics intellectual property (IP) into the Exynos 2800 application processor, slated for release in 2027. This strategic move is aimed at diminishing its dependence on AMD and bolstering the autonomy in iterating product features. At present, Samsung's mid-to-high-end mobile APs are equipped with Xclipse GPUs, which are built on AMD's architectural framework. Looking ahead, Samsung's self-developed GPU technology is poised to expand its reach into diverse sectors, including smart glasses, robotics, and automotive system-on-chips (SoCs). Furthermore, the company is set to make its foray into the AI application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) market.
