Luo Weiren, the former Senior Vice President of TSMC and a seasoned 75-year-old technical expert, is facing legal action for allegedly smuggling crucial 2nm technology secrets to competitor Intel. Luo Weiren previously served as a technical pillar at Intel in 1996 before joining TSMC in 2004. Initially, he had planned to assume a role at an academic institution after his retirement in July 2025. However, he ultimately decided to rejoin Intel. Prior to his departure, he overstepped his authority to access confidential information regarding TSMC's cutting-edge processes, including 2nm, A16, and A14 technologies, thereby sparking suspicions of information leakage.
