Intel, a company with over 50 years of history, only replaced its CEO two or three times in its first 30-plus years. However, it has undergone three or four changes in the past decade or so, highlighting the company's predicament. In March of this year, Chen Liwu took over as CEO, succeeding Gelsinger. Gelsinger is a seasoned Intel employee who served as the chief architect of the 486 processor and the company's first CTO. After losing out in the CEO competition in 2009, he left Intel. He was then hired back with a substantial salary in 2021 but left again last year.
