On Friday, the Japanese government made an announcement stating that it will allocate an extra aid package worth approximately 1 trillion yen (equivalent to $6.37 billion) to the domestic chip manufacturer Rapidus over the next two years. This financial support is aimed at bolstering Rapidus's efforts in large - scale production of state - of - the - art semiconductors. To be more precise, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has laid out plans to disburse around 630 billion yen in the fiscal year 2026, followed by an additional 300 billion yen in the fiscal year 2027.
