On November 14, during the third-quarter earnings conference call, Zhao Haijun, the co-CEO of SMIC, indicated that the guidance for fourth-quarter earnings had seen a downturn. This decline was mainly attributed to the influence of the traditional off-peak season and volatility in the growth of the mobile phone market. Owing to the shortage of storage supplies and subsequent price hikes, sectors like mobile phones and network communication equipment are adopting a cautious approach to purchasing, with conservative projections for shipments over the next two quarters. Zhao Haijun further disclosed that in order to accommodate urgent orders for storage and analog products, the company had delayed the shipment of certain mobile phone products in the third quarter.
