Against the backdrop of soaring demand propelled by the AI craze, Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA—currently the world's most valuable company—made a personal trip to Taiwan, China. His mission: to secure additional chip production capacity from TSMC, a key partner, thereby underscoring TSMC's indispensable role in the AI supply chain. Huang remarked that NVIDIA's business momentum remains robust. Echoing this sentiment, TSMC President C.C. Wei confirmed that NVIDIA has requested an increased supply of wafers. He also mentioned that TSMC expects to maintain its record-breaking streak of annual sales growth. At present, NVIDIA's products are in extremely high demand in the market. However, production capacity has emerged as a significant constraint. NVIDIA is now actively striving to secure a top-tier position among TSMC's primary customers for the cutting-edge 3-nanometer process, amidst fierce competition from rivals also vying for TSMC's advanced production capabilities. Huang emphasized, "Without TSMC, NVIDIA wouldn't exist," a statement that highlights the strategic mutual dependence between the two entities and NVIDIA's growing reliance on TSMC. Strengthening its partnership with TSMC has become a cornerstone of NVIDIA's strategy to sustain its market leadership. Nonetheless, it's crucial to acknowledge that the market is fraught with risks, and investments should be approached with prudence.
