Recently, a Reddit user going by the handle @ShendonZ shared an alarming experience: his Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor suffered damage twice while installed on an ASRock X870 RS Pro WiFi motherboard. After the first incident, he replaced the damaged processor with a new one. However, to his dismay, the replacement processor also met the same fate on the very same motherboard. Previously, ASRock had attributed the issue to Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) and subsequently released a new BIOS version aimed at resolving the problem. Yet, the true effectiveness of this fix remains unconfirmed. Since the start of the year, there have been more than 100 reported cases of this processor burning out across the globe, with a staggering 82% of these failures linked to ASRock motherboards.
