At Citi's 2025 Global Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT) Conference, David Zinsner, Intel's Chief Financial Officer, delved into the financial aspects of the company's upcoming 14A process node. He revealed that the production costs associated with the 14A node are expected to surpass those of the 18A node. Despite a relatively modest uptick in overall investment, the cost per unit for wafer fabrication has seen a notable increase. This surge is largely attributed to the integration of high-numerical-aperture extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography equipment in the 14A node—a cutting-edge technology that was not employed in the 18A node.
