Since the inception of the Seed Industry Revitalization Action, China has achieved significant strides in breeding innovation, successfully unveiling numerous high-quality, high-yield crop varieties. Nonetheless, challenges persist, notably in variety homogeneity and imitation modifications. To address these issues, the conference underscored the importance of a dedicated, full-chain variety management initiative, emphasizing the three pivotal aspects of breeding, management, and promotion. The outlined measures include bolstering the efficient utilization of germplasm resources, fostering innovation in breeding technologies, strictly adhering to approval standards, intensifying the elimination of substandard varieties, and reinforcing intellectual property protection. The ultimate aim is to effectively mitigate the issue of variety homogeneity within a three-year timeframe. Additionally, the conference mandated that all regions collaborate closely with provincial departments, refine task execution, and commence planning for major seed industry projects during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, thereby enhancing overall management efficacy. During the meeting, the National Crop Germplasm Resources Information Platform was officially launched, and various provinces, cities, and units exchanged insights and delivered presentations.
