Neuralink is set to embark on clinical trials in the United Kingdom, aiming to evaluate how its innovative brain-computer interface (BCI) chip can empower severely paralyzed individuals to manipulate digital and physical devices solely through their thoughts. These trials will take place at University College London Hospitals, specifically targeting patients with neurological conditions that hinder their ability to operate electronic devices in a conventional manner.
Neuralink's immediate objectives are centered around medical applications, yet the company harbors a broader, long-term vision to augment human physical and cognitive capabilities. To date, at least nine individuals worldwide have undergone the implantation of Neuralink's BCI chip as part of its ongoing clinical trials.
