Since April 2025, China's Central Cyberspace Administration has embarked on a special initiative titled "Clear and Bright: Rectification of AI Technology Misuse." In the initial phase, over 3,500 illicit AI products were dealt with, and more than 960,000 pieces of illegal information were removed. The focus was on rectifying issues such as AI-enabled face-swapping, voice imitation infringements, and misleading content labeling. Cyberspace administration departments and platforms nationwide have actively engaged in governance, reinforcing the handling of illegal products and enhancing content management. For the second phase, a monitoring system will be established to tackle seven prominent issues, foster the healthy development of AI, and establish a sustainable long-term mechanism.
