The International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced on Tuesday that artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to enhance global output by approximately 0.5% annually from 2025 to 2030. Notably, the economic gains from AI are expected to exceed the carbon emissions costs associated with the data centers necessary to run AI models. Nevertheless, the IMF cautions that this output growth will not be uniformly distributed across the globe, urging policymakers and businesses to minimize its societal costs.
