Recently, whispers have swirled regarding a supposed collaboration between Hengdian World Studios and ByteDance, suggesting that data from 150,000 extras will be gathered and analyzed, potentially rendering extras obsolete in the future. This has ignited debates over whether AI will substantially encroach on the livelihoods of grassroots actors. In response, the relevant entity clarified that this assertion is categorically false. The Hengdian World Studios AI service platform project represents a public digital infrastructure initiative for the industry, designed to transform the static assets of film and television bases into standardized datasets. This transformation aims to enhance the efficiency of production crew preparations and lower the entry barriers for small and medium-sized film and television enterprises to leverage AI technology. Volcano Engine solely provides technical support for this endeavor, with data asset ownership resting with Hengdian or the corresponding legally authorized entity. The utilization of natural persons' likenesses and voices necessitates authorization from the individuals concerned, and the project data will not be employed to train ByteDance's large-scale models.
