On October 28, 2026, new code entries, including DeepSeek-V5, V5-open, and V5-next, surfaced in the official code repository of DeepSeek Harness, signaling the initiation of preparations for the next-generation large model. At present, the V5 code exists in a placeholder state, with the new model's mechanism already in place. DeepSeek has the capability to modify the interface on the server side, thereby directly activating V5 without the necessity of a client release. V5-open does not impose any version requirements, whereas V5-next necessitates a client upgrade. Both deployment routes have already been accounted for. Although the existing code does not explicitly suggest an immediate release of V5, it does serve as evidence that its launch is drawing near. Judging by the current progress, the V5 Pro is more likely to make its debut in November.
