Broadcom has teamed up with prominent financial entities, including Bank of America, Blackstone, Citigroup, and Morgan Stanley, to successfully secure $63 billion in financing. This was achieved by setting up a special purpose vehicle. The raised capital will be utilized to buy Broadcom's AI accelerators and networking gear, which will subsequently be leased to Anthropic, a developer of large AI models. Delivery of the relevant chips is slated to commence from 2027 onwards. This deal stands as one of the most substantial AI chip financing agreements to date. It employs a tiered financing approach, with Broadcom providing significant collateral for senior creditors. The transaction signifies an expansion of Broadcom's prior strategic computing power pact with Anthropic, highlighting Wall Street's steadfast belief in the growth of AI infrastructure. It also serves as a clear indicator of institutional investors' faith in AI infrastructure investments. On the day the deal was concluded, Anthropic submitted its application for an initial public offering (IPO), revealing a net loss of $807 million for the first half of the year. The company also cautioned about the potential future inability to attain profitability, along with associated risks to human survival. Meanwhile, Broadcom's stock price experienced a 2.33% uptick. At present, traditional Wall Street banks and alternative asset management firms are collectively venturing into the AI computing power financing arena, with the overall financing scale for AI infrastructure steadily growing. Previously, Nvidia also had plans to mobilize over $500 billion in collaboration with multiple institutions to bolster AI development. Broadcom is capitalizing on this trend to boost sales of its related equipment, directly taking on Nvidia and aligning its interests with Anthropic's computing power requirements.
