As reported by Business Insider, the most recent economic analysis report issued by Apollo Global Management, one of the globe's premier investment giants, reveals that, at present, only tech companies are reaping the rewards of AI. The report highlights that while the 'Magnificent Seven' tech giants, encompassing names like NVIDIA and Meta, have witnessed substantial revenue surges during the AI frenzy, other industries have remained largely untouched by these benefits. Apollo's chief economist, Torsten Slok, delved into three key metrics—revenue per employee, profit margins, and productivity growth—and discovered that since 2022, revenue per employee at tech firms has skyrocketed from $550,000 to nearly $800,000, accompanied by a sharp uptick in profit margins. Conversely, revenue per employee at other S&P 500 companies has lingered around the $550,000 mark for seven years, with profit margins stagnating at approximately 10%. Slok posits that mainstream U.S. companies perceive AI expenditures as a cost that erodes profit margins rather than a catalyst for growth, and AI has yet to make a significant dent in driving overall economic productivity growth.
