Recently, the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF), operating under the auspices of the Linux Foundation, has welcomed four new hosted projects. These include Agent Skills, contributed by Anthropic; Open Responses, from OpenAI; OpenEnv, by Hugging Face; and OpenSandbox, provided by Alibaba. These projects span multiple key facets of AI Agents, encompassing skill acquisition, model invocation, training, and task execution. This addition brings the total number of projects hosted by AAIF to ten.

This development marks a significant transition in the AI Agent industry, shifting from a phase characterized by fragmented infrastructure development to a new era focused on competing for public standards. By integrating their respective projects into a shared, neutral governance framework, the four companies aim to minimize redundant construction and foster collaboration at the level of underlying interface tools. Consequently, the competitive focus is expected to shift towards model capabilities, product experience, and the commercial market.

However, the establishment of this standard ecosystem is not without challenges. Issues such as the feasibility of achieving interoperability among multiple vendors, potential security risks associated with increased openness, and the effectiveness of neutral governance remain to be addressed. Moving forward, it will be crucial to monitor the actual adoption of these projects by different vendors, the level of community engagement, and the compatibility effects across various products.
