Anthropic is poised to publicly file its S-1 prospectus this Friday, and it's anticipated to be the biggest Initial Public Offering (IPO) in history. The scale of this IPO is expected to outstrip that of SpaceX's IPO in June this year. Back in June of this year, the company had already confidentially submitted a draft IPO application. If the prospectus is successfully made public, it will give further impetus to its listing plan in November. However, the final timing of the issuance will still hinge on factors like market conditions. Once that happens, ordinary investors will, for the first time, get a detailed look at its specific financial data and potential risks. The company has poured billions of dollars into constructing AI infrastructure. In the first half of this year, its revenue hit USD 16.3 billion, but it also suffered a net loss exceeding USD 80 billion. In the third quarter, revenue climbed to USD 16.8 billion, and the company managed to achieve profitability on an adjusted basis. Wall Street analysts expect its IPO to raise up to USD 100 billion, which could translate to a valuation as high as USD 2 trillion. This listing will act as a crucial barometer for gauging investor interest in the ongoing AI boom. Moreover, its timing will also have a ripple effect on other companies planning to go public during the same period. Take its competitor OpenAI, for instance. Originally expected to go public this year, it's now projected to list in early 2027.
