As reported by The Wall Street Journal, on October 20 (local time), a US judge determined that Abdulrahman Alfozan, a suspect implicated in the OpenAI eavesdropping incident, presents a significant flight risk and consequently denied his application for bail. Alfozan stands accused of secretly installing an eavesdropping device, concealed within toilet paper, behind a television in a conference room at OpenAI on September 28. This particular room is frequently utilized for high-level executive meetings and discussions involving sensitive and confidential information. The surveillance device was uncovered two days subsequent to its installation.

Alfozan had intended to depart for Saudi Arabia with his family on October 12, a fact that prosecutors highlighted as evidence of his potential to flee. Despite Alfozan's legal counsel attributing his purchase of a one-way ticket to his work practices and the need to care for his wife, and presenting a bail petition endorsed by over 50 local acquaintances, the judge ultimately ruled against granting bail.
