On October 19, METiS Pharmaceuticals and Eli Lilly and Company announced a strategic collaboration focused on novel lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery technologies to jointly explore tissue-specific delivery solutions. According to the agreement, METiS Pharmaceuticals will leverage its AiLNP platform under the AI-driven nano-delivery platform NanoForge to develop next-generation LNP delivery technologies, enhancing targeting capabilities and optimizing in vivo distribution. Eli Lilly and Company will provide resources in drug discovery, development, and commercialization to accelerate the collaboration. METiS Pharmaceuticals will receive an upfront payment exceeding USD 10 million and is eligible to receive development, regulatory, and commercial milestone payments totaling up to USD 1.1 billion, along with tiered royalties in the single-digit percentage range based on the annual net sales of collaborative products. This collaboration marks a critical leap for METiS Pharmaceuticals in advancing delivery technologies from organ targeting to tissue- and cell-level selective delivery, driven by AI. It is expected to overcome the limitations of next-generation therapeutic modalities caused by insufficient delivery selectivity, significantly expanding the range of druggable targets and facilitating the translation of novel therapies from concept to clinical application.
